2007 TROPICAL SPORTS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

 

Craig  Anthony Montaque winner of the Tropical Sports Club Scholarship is a graduate of Chamblee High School.  He was born in Georgia of Jamaican mother Jennifer Hull and American father Toney Montaque.  Craig earned several awards while attending Chamblee including:  Student of Distinction, Class of 2007, Who’s Who among AmericanHigh School students.  Friendliest and Best Dressed male student.  Serving others is very important to Craig.  He totaled more than 400 service hours in High School gaining him the Bull Dog Service Award Trophy for the highest number of volunteer hours.  His volunteer activities included:  Tutoring Mathematics for SAT through his church, Tutoring Advanced Geometry at Chamblee, Teacher Assistant for Keyboard Techniques.  He is an active member of Hands-On-Atlanta and Med-Share organizations.  While at Chamblee, he was member of the Y-Club, Student Government, Future Business Leaders of America, National Society of Black Engineers, and French Club.  He speaks French and German.   Craig has been accepted to Howard University School of Engineering to fulfill his life long dream of becoming an architect


2006 TROPICAL SPORTS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

 Bradston Stewart Alix Henry winner of the 2006 Tropical Sports Club Scholarship was born in Rochester, New York, on October 5, 1988 of Jamaican parents, Winston and Joycelyn Henry.  A 2006 graduate of Chamblee CharterHigh School, Bradston participated in the Magnet program since the 4th grade.  He will be attending the Georgia Institute of Technology and plans to major in Mechanical Engineering this fall.

 

While at Chamblee, Bradston was part of the National Society of Black Engineers and participated in the Men of Distinction whose goal is to change the image of young men throughout the society.  Recently, he participated in a program sponsored by Delta Airlines and the organization of Black Airline Pilots where he received flight training for two weeks, the end of which he actually got the opportunity to fly SOLO.  Bradston plans to one day open his own business and to pursue a Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

 

 


 

 

2005 TROPICAL SPORTS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

 

Shaday Azure-Dee Gallimore was born in Jamaica on November 29th, 1984 to proud parents Winsome Simpson and Robert Gallimore. Her education began at St. Theresa's Preparatory School where she always maintained an average above 90%. From this early age her academic and co-culTicular excellence was evident; she was always placed first or second in class and was a member of the school's Challenge Quiz Team and Math Competition team. She won a free place to CampionCollege, where she was on the honor roll and involved herself in various clubs and community service. Shaday also received the honor of being selected to participate in the Global Young Leaders' Conference.


 

Currently, she attends Agnes ScottCollege where she is pursuing a major in psychology and a minor in business-economics. She is the treasurer of her graduating class, and treasurer of the African West Indian Student Association. An avid dancer since age four, she currently dances with the school's dance company, Studio Dance Theater. She represented Jamaica at the Dance and the Child International Conference in 1997 and 2000. Shaday loves the beach, watching movies, serving disadvantaged youth, and corresponding with friends and family.

 

In the future she intends to pursue a Masters degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and return home to Jamaica where she intends to provide valuable services to the community. She expresses sincere gratitude to her parents, friends and family who have encouraged her to become the young leader she is today.
